Great list, but what about W.S. Gilbert? Love your blog, by the way…it’s about time that light verse got some dedicated champions! Keep posting!

Hey, Jazz. Thanks for the memory jog on W.S. Gilbert. Yup…he’d be right up there! Thanks for the encouragement. Vb

Anytime, man. Keep fighting the good fight! I read the excerpt from the Rhymer’s Cafe on blurb.com…it’s wonderful! I especially liked “The Wart on Jenny’s Nose”.

Good choices, and Gilbert’s a fine choice too.

If you like progressive political light verse, I recommend Calvin Trillin, often to be found in the New Yorker and the Nation.

Thanks, Mad. Yup he’s very good and very prolific…but so are you. I am new at this blogging thing…found your site and was blown away. By the way…you don’t have to have a progressive bent to enjoy a well executed progressive verse. If it’s cleverly done…then I’m a fan.

Thanks so much for your kind words, Versebender! I’ve been enjoying yours too and am so glad you’re participating in my Limerick-Offs!
