Dove, Anyone?

This poem is in response to Magpie Tales prompt #65 which is the image above.

.

.

If a bird in the hand

Is worth two in the bush

Then these two in my hand are ideal

Because two hand the hand

Are worth four in the bush

That makes six and a pretty good meal!

    What a witty take!

This is perhaps the darkest rendering of a St. Francis statue or portrait I’ve ever seen. Your light verse lends the upbeat tone that St. Francis might enjoy if he had a sense of humor. If not, he’ll surely forgive you—so no worries either way 🙂

Frank and I are cool…like you say…no worries!

I can hear this become a barroom chant with an ey hey afterward. It made me laugh outloud. Thanks!

Francis was a man of the world. I’m sure he’d see and join in the humor.

I’m back to thank you for participating in my latest Limerick-Off. Also for some reason, this poem made me think of the old SNL routine mocking GWB in a fake debate saying something like, “You said there wouldn’t be math.”

  46. May 19, 2011 at 12:17 PM

Good stuff, thanks for the laughter.
